Writing back in 1990, Andrew Acland, widely recognised as the pioneer of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in the UK, described the increasing popularity of ADR as a "sudden outbreak of common sense". He said it was time for ADR to come away from the alternative fringe and into the mainstream of judicial, business and social dispute resolution. |
