We advise on the tax consequences and structuring of all types of corporate transactions and have particular expertise in tax relating to financial institutions.

Property, Conveyancing and Construction
We advise on commercial transactions involving property portfolios, the transfer of properties and property developments and construction related matters.

Regulatory and Competition
The firm’s large scale involvement in corporate, M&A and finance activities and an intimate knowledge of competition law, has resulted in its extensive involvement in applications to the competition authorities, advising on the JSE Listings Requirements, Exchange Control and other regulatory requirements.

Finance and Banking
We advise lenders and borrowers on acquisition finance transactions and advise issuers on the issue of instruments on debt capital markets.

Employment
We advise employers on all aspects of employment law, including the formulation of policies, drafting of contracts and resolution of labour conflicts.

Business Rescue and Company Turnarounds
We advise businesses in distress and/or their stakeholders on informal and formal business rescue and turnaround processes.

Dispute Resolution / Insolvency and Liquidation
We act on the litigation and arbitration of large commercial disputes and insolvencies and restructurings.

Environmental, Mining and Natural Resources
We undertake environmental legal due diligence investigations and legal audits for South African, African and international certification bodies and advise on the structuring of mining transactions.

Our African Experience


We have strong and enduring relationships with independent firms across Africa, including firms in 8 of the 15 member states of the Southern African Development Community. We regularly work with these firms to deliver a seamless service to clients making cross-border acquisitions or entering into joint ventures.
